International Interest Groups

The Faculties of Health International Office has established a number of regional and country-specific interests groups to further our relationships and coordinate our activities.

Cambodia Interest Group

The Faculties of Health International Office invites members from across the academic, clinical, administrative and student community of the Faculties of Health at the University of Sydney, as well the wider community who share our interest in the welfare of the people of Cambodia to join the newly formed Cambodia Interest Group.

The group will initially focus on health issues and regular forums will be held to communicate ideas and facilitate collaboration. Members are invited to share details about their involvement in current research or education projects and activities in Cambodia. Members are also encouraged to present ideas for new activities and to seek participation from other interested members.

Through the activities of the group it is hoped that more students and staff of our university will become involved in working with the people of Cambodia.

China Interest Group

The China Interest Group welcomes members from across the academic, clinical, administrative and student community of the Faculties of Health. Regular meetings are hosted in which mutual interests in China can be identified, linked and supported. Members of the China Interest Group are invited to participate in the planning of our activities in China and are invited to meet with visiting delegations.

Your Office in Beijing - The George Institute, China
The George Institute for International Health seeks to improve global health through undertaking high quality research, and applying this research to health policy and practice. The George Institute has an office in Beijing where its China-related projects are based. Due to the institute’s relationship with the university, an arrangement has been made to provide office space to staff from the University’s Faculties of Health when they are in Beijing. Timor Leste Interest Group

The Timor Leste Interest Group welcomes participation from all interested students, academics, clinicians and administrative staff of The University of Sydney, as well as members of the wider community who share our interest in the welfare of the people of Timor Leste.

The group started with a specific focus on health but we have now expanded our focus to include members from all faculties of the university. Regular presentations are made by speakers from Timor Leste who are visiting Australia or from members of the group who have recently been working in Timor Leste. Regular forums are held where members of the group are invited to share details about their involvement in current research and education projects and activities in Timor Leste. Members are invited to present ideas for new activities and to seek participation from other interested members.

Through the activities of the group it is hoped that more students and staff of our university will become involved in working with the people of Timor Leste as they rebuild their nation.

Viêt Nam / Học Mãi Foundation Interest Group

The Faculties of Health International Office and the Học Mãi Foundation invites members from across the academic, clinical, administrative and student community of the Faculties of Health at the University of Sydney, as well the wider community who share our interest in the welfare of the people of Vietnam to join the newly formed Viêt Nam / Học Mãi Foundation Interest Group.

The group will initially focus on health issues and regular forums will be held to communicate ideas and facilitate collaboration. Members are invited to share details about their involvement in current research or education projects and activities in Viêt Nam. Members are also encouraged to present ideas for new activities and to seek participation from other interested members.

Through the activities of the group it is hoped that more students and staff of our university will become involved in working with the people of Vietnam.
