Snapshot of Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
use in CST units of study – 2004

From the PVC (CST)
I strongly encourage you to complete this online inventory. The information we collect will contribute to a catalogue of information on units of study that will be accessible to all, and will be used within the College to improve our understanding of the current use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to support teaching and learning in the College. This will enable us to better plan to support and extend the use of ICT in teaching and learning.

- Pro-Vice Chancellor (CST) Beryl Hesketh

From the CST ICT in T&L Group
With this inventory we are taking a ‘snapshot’ of the use of ICT in the support of teaching and learning (ICT is defined within the inventory). We need to know where we are before we can map out where we might go, and how we might get there. The aim is to capture every unit of study within the College. As well as capturing information regarding current use of ICT in teaching and learning, we would like to gather information regarding how people may wish to be supported in their use of ICT in teaching and learning in the future.

We will use the data to:

  • describe existing patterns of use
  • identify good practice examples which can be shared around CST
  • identify opportunities and concerns which may be addressed as part of implementing the CST strategic plan.

Please be assured that:

  • our work is concerned with student learning, flexible approaches and, by association, student and staff workload
  • there is no current expectation that all units of study should be making use of online or other forms of technology supported teaching and learning
  • this is not part of any staff/program evaluation activity
  • contact details are sought so that we might follow up with questions or seek permission to distribute information about a particular use or approach. No staff member or individual unit of study will be named in any report without their agreement.
This activity is being held in conjunction with the College of Health Sciences (CHS) who developed this inventory. CHS will capture the data and then give it to Karen Scott for analysis.
